Numeracy and Literacy Skills
At Keane Futures, we understand that numeracy and literacy skills are essential for everyday life, future education, and employment. Rather than teaching these skills in isolation, we weave them naturally throughout our wider programme of activities and sessions.
Our approach is practical, engaging, and tailored to each young person's interests and abilities. Whether measuring ingredients in a cooking session, writing project plans in enterprise activities, calculating costs, creating artwork portfolios, recording animal care routines, or producing music and media content, learners are continually developing their reading, writing, communication, and mathematical skills in meaningful real-world contexts.
By embedding numeracy and literacy across all areas of learning, young people can see the relevance of these skills and build confidence without the pressure often associated with traditional classroom environments.
Where appropriate, learners can also work towards recognised qualifications, including Functional Skills in English and Maths. Our aim is to help every young person develop the confidence, knowledge, and practical skills they need to thrive both now and in the future.
